"To say I was ‘taken off guard' last Thursday evening is an understatement, I was utterly gobsmacked! It was a complete surprise to me to learn I had won your most prestigious Award. I was extremely flattered to have such an acknowledgement from The industry after so many years in licensing (since 1964 in fact... makes you think doesn't it!). The evening was brilliantly run and a great success and full credit to you both. After so many years of various well meaning people and companies unfortunately not getting it right you folk got it absolutely bang on target. The emphasis on retailers and licensees struck the right balance. The proceedings went without a hitch and your choice of MC was perfect. Alistair McGowan did a superb job. By the way the food too was excellent, a rare achievement on these occasions when the logistics of feeding so many people calls for a first class run kitchen".
